Don't start a long haul when you've got less than 9 hours until your next sleep break. If the job doesn't take more than 11 or 12 hours to deliver, the game won't give you any extra time for sleep breaks. If you push it too far after you start getting fines for avoiding sleep, you will eventually fall asleep at the wheel.

The develepers chose the current sleep mechanic to add a small measure of difficulty and planning to the game and it would have to be scrapped to make either of these changes. You lie on the roof. Only once at level 20. Before that you lie under the truck and get gnawed on by coyotes.
Just enable the developers console, and use console command g_set_time. g_set_time doesn't force night time it moves the clock forwards. Great if you have fatigue off and no job. Not so good if you're on a job and just want it to be night time. Set "day_in_year: 358" in "/def/env_data.sii" and you'll have the shortest day in year.
No you cannot turn off the day/night cycle. Best you can do is sleep at night till morening at a rest stop. #1. jnol8 Dec 2, 2017 @ 10:34pm. The only way I think that could even be possible is to go through the command menu which someone else will have to tell you how to access because I don't. My advice would be to do jobs only during the day.
